ENGLISH DEPARTMENT AND PERSONAL STATEMENT

WELCOME 

        

Goals of the English Department is to support student growth and achievement and achieve the benchmarks published by the Ministry of Education. The achievement of this goal is dependent on communication, creativity and effective problem solving. 

I expect all community members to put students first. This means that their emotional, cognitive and physical wellness is our priority above all else. 

Whatever is getting in the way of this goal it my duty to fix. I expect whoever is reading this to let me know.  I expect this community to nurture this goal.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

          I became a teacher because I care about the future of the Jewish people and I believe that I am here today to make the world a better place. My students learn to appreciate language, the English language, through gaining insight and respect for other people, cultures and nations. This is one of primary benchmarks cited in the English Curriculum published by the Ministry of Education. Genuine language is based in empathy. I teach Emotional Intelligence, the building blocks of success in a career but more importantly the material for being good person (Daniel Putnam).

      Truth be told all good teachers are naïve teachers. If you don't believe in the greater good, leave the profession. You weren't cut out for it. This unshakable belief in the good has brought me to Israel, teaching and to you today. The promise, this hope has brought the Jewish people home and is protected by laws and individual rights. This standard is very clearly identified in the Declaration of Independence.

      My goal as a teacher is to bring out the good in everyone and help students and staff realize their talents and potential. This means providing them with the resource and direction to discover their strengths and see the good in themselves and in others. I hope to direct this talent and potential towards a greater good and I am here to help others find the means to express that.
